The Teresa Maier Memorial Award
Grey and White illustration: 2 concentric circle, between which the words Teresa • Maier • Memorial • Award is written. The central illustration shows Teresa Maier smiling and holding a stack of three books; Ms. Mavel, and Le Petit Prince (spines showing), and Harry Potter, (front cover showing).

I was very proud to be asked to illustrate the image that is used to memorialize cherished teacher and librarian Teresa Maier. The more information was shared with me, the more I felt a loss and sadness for someone whom I am very sad to have never met. She touched so many people and I can only hope my small contribution to this legacy project pays enough homage to a truly inspirational person.

The Teresa Maier Memorial Award is a legacy scholarship established by the Lord Selkirk Elementary Parental Advisory Council in celebration of Teresa Maier. This award will be given annually, and shared jointly, between one French Student and one English Student for exceptional effort in the literary arts on the occasion of graduation from Lord Selkirk Elementary.

The Teresa Maier Memorial Award carries a $100 prize for each student, and will presented at the Grade Seven Leaving Ceremony every year.

The award hopes to motivate and inspire Lord Selkirk Elementary Students to do their very best in literary initiatives, and in a small way continue the work Teresa cared about so much.
