Character study – The Whiz Kid

One of my fun assignments at Emily Carr while taking CEIL 230: Commercial Illustration was to create a character study for a fictional game company. The company was called “Whiz Kids Educations Computer Games” and I was to create their avatar: The Whiz Kid.

I sketched out Chinese, Caucasian and Indian children of both sexes, before deciding on the following character (after doing some quick market research on global demographics). My speedy, skate wearing whiz kid is perhaps not as safe as he could be, sporting his goggles ON his head, versus wearing them, while his jet pack is engaged, but I’m gonna chalk that up to his dare-devil, risk taking approach to life (and video games) :p.
